This page says what brakeglow.com stores in a browser, and what it stores only on the server. A cookie is a small file the browser keeps at a site’s request. A server cache is a copy of a page kept on the host so the next reader can be sent that copy. They are not the same thing.
What the site sets when you read
Reading a guide does not require an account, and the public pages do not show a comment form. Brake Glow does not set an analytics cookie of its own, and it does not run a separate measurement product on these pages.
The reader-list form sends the email address you type. It does not set a tracking cookie to follow you around the web. A hidden field on that form is for catching automated signups. Leave it blank. Editors who sign in to the publishing system get the ordinary WordPress login cookies. Those cookies are for the signed-in editor, not for a reader.
Advertising cookies
When an advertisement is shown, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this site or to other sites. Google’s advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to show ads based on those visits.
You can turn off personalized ads at https://adssettings.google.com, or opt out of some third-party cookies at https://www.aboutads.info/choices/. How Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites or apps explains Google’s side of this. The Privacy page is the full disclosure. No ad vendor other than Google is named, because no other ad vendor is used.
About, Contact, Safety, Privacy, this page, Disclaimer, and Terms do not carry ads. An article advertisement is labeled Advertisement and is removed when Google returns nothing, so an empty box is not left on the page.
The server cache
The host may keep a finished copy of a public page and send that copy to the next visitor. That copy lives on the server. It is not a cookie on your computer, and it does not identify you. A page address with a query string is fetched fresh rather than from that copy. If you have just been told a correction was published and the old sentence is still on screen, load the page again without relying on an old tab.
Your own browser can also keep a copy. Reloading the page is the reader’s control for that. Brake Glow does not use a browser cache as a way to store your email address.
How to limit cookies in the browser
Browsers let you block third-party cookies, delete cookies already stored, or browse without saving them. Blocking cookies can stop personalized ads. It should not stop you from reading a guide, because the guides do not require a login. The advertising opt-out pages linked above are the controls Google and participating vendors offer. A browser setting and those opt-out pages do different jobs. Either one can be used.
Contact and the reader list
Email to [email protected] is not stored as a cookie. An address you submit to the reader list is stored on this website as a private record, not as a browser cookie, and it is not sold. To remove it, use the Contact page.
If a page on this site is setting something this policy does not describe, write to [email protected] with the page address. The policy will be changed to match the site, or the extra storage will be removed. A cookie policy does not, by itself, collect consent from readers in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland. That consent, when advertising requires it, is handled in the advertising account with a certified consent tool, not by the existence of this page.
Brake Glow loads advertisements through Google Ad Manager on articles and other reading pages. Those can include a banner, a bar at the top of the screen, a full-screen advertisement between pages, and an optional short advertisement that pauses full-screen ads for six hours. About, Contact, Safety, Privacy, Cookies, Disclaimer, and Terms do not load this code.
